( When and where is Spring Fling this year? We are at Pickett’s Mill Elementary School this year. The event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 pm on April 12 I have heard it could rain. What will happen then? Oh it never rains in Georgia in April!! This event is rain or shine. If it is raining, we will move many things inside but don’t worry, we still have some fun planned including the inflatables, games, vendors, food and dunk tank (as long as there is no severe weather) What exactly will be going on? Well, just about everything! We will have vendors and food vendors, inflatables and games. There will be a DJ playing music. We will have various performers throughout the evening. And we will have a Dunk Tank!! Here is a mapshowing where things are planned, weather permitting. How much do things cost? Wristbands are $10 per child 5 and up (adults and kids 4 and under are free) and can be bought at Admissions (by the playground) before you enter the event. If you pre-ordered, just show your wristband and you will be waved through. The Dunk Tank is $1 a ball or $10 for a guaranteed dunk. The PTA concession will be selling pizza, snacks and drinks — all $1 each. Vendors and food vendors set their own prices; many take cash only. PLEASE NOTE, BILLS LARGER THAN $20 WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Thank you for understanding. What is going on with parking this year? Volunteers, staff, vendors and sponsors will be parking behind the school (those cars will remain for the duration of event). Want to volunteer? We still have some spots open. Attendees will be parking at PMES in the front lot (and on the field if not too wet). We will have additional parking at Keystone Baptist Church with a free shuttle to PMES. The shuttle will start at 5:15 pm from the church. Carpooling is strongly encouraged and appreciated. Can I drop off my PMES student (or elementary age child) and come back later? NO. This is NOT a drop-off event for young students. The only exception to this is if you are a parent of a middle or high school student or volunteer (see more about entertainers, volunteers in next questions) I have an older student volunteering. What do I do? We will be sending an email to all student volunteers who signed up by Friday. If you don’t receive it, please contact Cheryl Spuhler or Liz White. But you can drop off your student volunteer(s) at the front of PMES and pick them up later. Or, if you have younger kids attending as well, we suggest dropping off your older child who is volunteering ONLY, and then parking at PMES or Keystone Baptist Church and taking the free shuttle. Drop off will be at the front of the school. Carpooling is strongly encouraged! I have an older student performing. What do I do? If your child is a performer, you should have received instructions from your teacher or organizer. But you can drop off your performer at the front of the school (we recommend at least 15 minutes before scheduled time to ensure they are on time). If you have younger kids attending as well, we suggest dropping off your older performer only and then parking at PMES or Keystone Baptist Church and taking the shuttle to PMES. I volunteered to bring a baked good or candy. What do I do? Just drop your items off Thursday, April 11 or Friday, April 12 in the PMES lobby between 7:15 and 7:50 am. There will be a table for baked goods and a bin for other donations. Thank you for your contributions! I signed up to volunteer. What do I do? Thank you so much for helping out! We couldn’t do this without you. You should be receiving an email soon. But basically, volunteers arriving before 5 pm will park in the back of the school (if you can carpool, great!). Remember, cars parked there will remain for the entire event. Those after 5 pm can use the front lot or field (weather permitting) or park at Keystone Baptist Church and take the shuttle. When you arrive, stop at the Volunteer table by Admissions (near the playground) and let them know you’re volunteering and they can direct you. Please be aware that some jobs or our volunteer needs could change as circumstances may arise and we may have to adjust assignments. Thank you in advance for your patience. Will there be entertainment? Yes! We will have a DJ from Preferred Sound & Productions. We also have performances scheduled for Allatoona Drumline, Bravo Dance Studio, Dae Han, Durham Fiddlers, Durham Winds and Durham Advanced Chorus. Will there be food? I might get hungry. Yes! We have Chuy's, Kona Ice, Mama Frog's Smokehouse and Pop! Bubble Tea and Coffee Bar coming. Is there really a Dunk Tank this year? Yes, there is!!! It will be outside by the bus port and you will have the chance to dunk your favorite teacher and Principal Douglas and Assistant Principal Gurski for $1 a ball or $10 for a guaranteed dunk. PMES has generously offered to match any donations each teacher earns. We will have a schedule soon, but please note that sometimes the schedule changes.
